Teen Cancer Project

Every September we bring awareness to Childhood Cancer through our blanket donations to Teens with Cancer. Giving back is something that has always been important to me. Like most people, my life has not been easy and giving back in this way mends my heart in so many ways.

While in college, I volunteered at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah and noticed that while there were activities and gifts available to the teenagers, there was so much more designed for littler children. For over twenty years this has been fixed in my mind.

Fast forward to when my son was in the 7th grade, and he met one of his best friends whole older sixteen-year-old brother was recovering from a rare brain cancer. We became close with the family and involved in his recovery journey, mostly by my 12-year-old son’s ability to make anyone laugh! Our family friend went on to speak at many Childhood Cancer events and fundraisers where we heard again that the teenagers needed a little more outside encouragement to help keep their spirits up.

In September 2021, my 15-year-old daughter, had a very rare tumor removed from behind her tailbone. Pathology came back as benign, but now this entire cause of donating to teens with cancer has become even more earnest and personal.

From the day Pipermoon took root in my mind, I knew that we would be donating to teens with cancer. Our super-soft adult swaddle blankets fold up small, making them easy to transport to and from the hospital and/or chemo. At the same time, they are big enough to cover from head to toe making them the perfect cozy size for tweens and teens.

Currently, we donate blankets to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Gold ribbon awareness will always be a part of Pipermoon, and we hope to grow our donations each year to children’s hospitals throughout the country. We couldn’t do this without your support of our small business, and we thank you for your devotion to furthering our cause of gifting hugs one blanket at a time.
